Amy Bakey has a passion for helping care for others. Her determination to help others grew from seeing her mother foster a successful career in nursing. This passion has not only led her into creating her own thriving career as an ICU Nurse but has been a motivator in deciding to earn her Master’s in Nursing.
Amy wanted a challenge, and found it at Â鶹´«Ã½ Online. It was not a difficult decision for her as she notes having a wonderful experience at SUO during her RNBS program. The opportunity of earning her master’s was presented through SUO’s partnership advantage. She shares that the knowledge gained from her programs spans from using evidence-based practices to making ethical considerations – skills which she uses every day. Now as she is finishing her Master’s in May, she offers advice to other nurses considering an online degree saying, “Just do it! Sign up and start! The starting is the hardest part, but you won’t regret it.”
Amy has met many challenges working as an ICU Nurse this last year, but with the support of her co-workers and family, she persisted, noting that although physical protocols have changed due to the impact of COVID-19, it hasn’t changed how she cares for her patients emotionally. She continued sharing stating that “watching patients fight for their lives without family at their sides has only made [her] invest more of [herself] into taking care of them.”
Amy wants to wish all the hardworking, dedicated and, amazing nurses out there a Happy Nurses Week! You are true heroes.
